The city of Charleston, as lies between the Ashley and Cooper rivers, has experienced more trauma, destruction, and human suffering than any other comparably sized plot of land in the United States. The Holy City has seen first hand the consequences of war, the devastation of hurricanes and fire, the destruction wrought by the largest recorded earthquake to ever hit the eastern seaboard, the upheaval of multiple rebellions, and that was only the first 200 years. Charleston has experienced it all, periods of extreme economic boom and bust, murder, scandal, riots, and all of this mayhem set against the abomination of slavery for the much of the city's complicated history. Despite, and perhaps because of her tumultuous past, Charleston has survived to become one of the most beautiful urban landscapes in the United States as well as one of the most intriguing and beguiling cities in the world. We would love to share our beautiful city and her rich history with you. Please review our tour options and select the one that best fits your interests.

Hello and welcome to Charleston! My name is Cason and I will be your guide. First licensed as a Charleston tour guide in 2011, I have a passion for Charleston and South Carolina history, because for me, it's family history, My South Carolina roots run deep. My great (x12) grandfather was an Englishman named Thomas King who, as a servant to Captain Florence O'Sullivan, arrived at Albemarle Point in 1670 on board the ship Carolina. Another set of my great grandparents, Isac Dubosc and Susanne Couillandeau, were part of the early wave of French Huguenots who arrived in Charleston in 1682. While I claim deep South Carolina roots, I have also spent significant time living and traveling aboard including time spent in Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, France, and Spain. I have a BA from the College of Charleston and a Masters from the University of South Carolina, and despite my wanderlust, Charleston always calls me home. In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, traveling, eating foods not on my diet, making new friends, playing the piano, and singing poorly and off key. Here is a link to my blog on Southern Food History, if you're into that sort of thing.
